“The vibe of this motel is so good. We usually don’t stay at motels but if this one is just so good. Yummy continental breakfast. Friendly service. Rooms were well taken care of and the grounds felt so good we ended up grabbing a bottle of wine locally and hanging outside chatting with other guests. Bed very comfy and dog friendly a bonus!!! You can tell the owners love what they do. Heading back soon. The town is adorable.”
A Happy Surprise
Tripadvisor REVIEW
“I wasn’t sure what I’d find when we arrived at the motel, since it was just up the road from a large sand quarry, as well as being on the main road (Hwy 14) before its speed limit drops down to in-town limits – the motel is about 3 miles out of Viroqua. I was therefore very pleased to discover a quiet, cozy, fully-equipped little room. I could hear very little traffic noise, and our next-door neighbors were audible, but muffled.
The place was absolutely spotless. The room was a nice throwback, with actual wooden window and door frames and baseboards; some non-generic art; an elegant bedspread, not one of those typical quilted, pilly polyester ones; and real, pretty wooden furniture – bed frame, good-sized table, upholstered chairs, side table and dresser, along with several lamps. The bed was VERY comfortable. The bathroom shower had excellent water pressure, and there was a hairdryer, along with plenty of towels and the usual amenities. The heat was more than adequate for a chilly night! There was a remarkably quiet dorm fridge, a small microwave, and a mounted TV. An old stand of oak and pine trees curved around much of the property, including the hill that hid the quarry from view.
Our dog was welcome, for a small additional fee. There are only a few rooms that permit pets, and there have been motels I’ve stayed at with my pup where you can really smell the accumulated animal presences, but again, the room was super clean.
Lastly, the owner was friendly and helpful. The office space is small but welcoming. The included breakfast was more than expected, including orange juice, coffee, variously flavored oatmeal packets to choose between, sweet rolls and fresh fruit. Highly recommended for an inexpensive stay.”
